Gratuit et ouvert au public sans inscription. En anglais, français bienvenu pour les questions et commentaires.

Des membres du public pourront s'inscrire à l'avance pour participer en tant qu'invités à la cérémonie du thé. Les inscriptions seront ouvertes à partir du 7 janvier et seront closes lorsqu’un maximum de 7 personnes sera atteint. Une participation de 20 dollars par invité sera demandée pour couvrir les frais. Les instructions pour s’inscrire seront données sur cette page début janvier.

Hitomi HARAMA commencera par une présentation sur « la voie du thé » (茶道 : Chado).

Ayako IKEDA procédera ensuite à la cérémonie du thé, qui se fera sur des tatamis, avec un invité assis sur le tatami pour montrer le style traditionnel (une personne qui sert le thé à un invité) dans une « chashitsu » (茶室 : pièce de thé). Tous les autres membres du public, y compris les invités inscrits, seront assis sur des chaises. Des confiseries légères spécialement préparées (wagashi) seront servies avec le thé, comme le veut la tradition.

Cet événement vous permettra de découvrir les quatre principes de la cérémonie de thé japonaise : "Wa-Kei-Sei-Jaku" (和 敬 清 寂) : Harmonie, Respect, Pureté et Tranquillité.

Une période de questions-réponses est prévue à la fin.

Ayako IKEDA est experte en la cérémonie de thé et membre du conseil d'administration de Urasenke Tankokai Victoria. Elle donne des leçons de thé dans le style Urasenke. Elle anime des ateliers et organise divers événements pour faire connaître la voie du thé. Instagram : chado victoria.bc

Issue d’une lignée de fabricants et marchands de kimonos à Nagoya, elle donne des conférences sur le kimono et la culture japonaise, conseille pour des expositions et des films, contribuant de sa propre collection à divers événements publics et privés. Elle est consultante en matière de culture japonaise, de kimonos, de leur utilisation et de leur signification culturelle. Elle fait partie de Urasenke Tankokai Victoria et pratique le iai-do.

Title: The Japanese Tea Ceremony

Free and open to the public, without registration. In English. French welcome for questions and comments.

Up to seven members of the public will be able to register ahead of time if they wish to participate as guests and be served tea in the Tea Ceremony. A nominal fee of $20 per guest will be asked to cover expenses. Registration will open January 7 on a first come, first served basis. Instructions on how to register will be given here in early January.

Hitomi HARAMA will start by giving a brief presentation and explanation about the Japanese way of tea (茶道,Chado) and its culture.

Ayako IKEDA will then perform the tea ceremony. This will be done on tatami mats, with one guest sitting on the tatami mat to show the traditional style of tea serving (the tea server and one guest) in a Chashitsu (茶室,Tea room). All other members of the public, including the registered guests, will sit on regular chairs. Home-made Japanese style sweets (wagashi) will be served with the tea, which is the traditional way.

This event will allow you to experience “Wa-Kei-Sei-Jaku” (和 敬 清 寂), the four principles of the Japanese tea ceremony: Harmony, Respect, Purity, and Tranquility.

There will be time for a question-and-answer period at the end.

Ayako IKEDA is an expert of the Japanese way of tea, and a core board-member of Urasenke Tankokai Victoria. She teaches Urasenke style tea classes, gives workshops and organizes various events to introduce the Japanese way of tea and manners. Instagram: chado victoria.bc

Hitomi HARAMA https://kmno-japan.com/ is a specialist in kimono and Japanese culture. Coming from a family of kimono makers and merchants in Nagoya, she gives lectures on kimono and Japanese culture, advises on exhibitions and films, and contributes her own collection to various public and private events. She is a member of Urasenke Tankokai Victoria and practices iai-do.
